Reserve Grade Dominance

With only one game left in the regular season, finals football was weighing heavily on all the boys minds. As a team we knew that this was our last game to iron out any problems. JCU came out strong, jumping on the front foot straight away which was a positive start compared to recent games. It wasn’t long at all before JCU posted the first 5 pointer and the boys looked like they were going to take control of the game from the start. However this was not to be, JCU became very quiet and a little disorientated in the later part of the first half and allowed Southside back into the game with the half time score looking like 10 -12 our way. The half time break didn’t seem to change much as JCU fell from tackles and again allowed Southside to take a handy 7 point lead about 20 minutes into the second half. Fresh legs were needed and that’s exactly what happened, three new forwards and one back were brought on and the JCU fuel tank was back up to almost full. JCU took back control of the game with some great hard running from an old friend Chuck Norris (aka Clayton) and eventually ran out winners by 10 points.

Well done boys we have achieved our first goal we set way back in March and that was to make the finals. Our next goal is to make the GF, the easiest way to achieve this goal is to all turn up to training.
