Ressies Keep On Marching

As injuries and work commitments continue to plague the club, once again I was forced to assemble a 15 man army from no more than 13 of my regular reserve grade players. However due to the luck of the draw (A grade having a bye) and great club commitment shown by a couple of the A grade boys Noel, Oscar, Robbo, Justin and a very happy Brian I was able to muster up a good side to travel up the mountain.

On a pitch harder than concrete we set out to repeat the footsteps of last week by laying down a strong foundation by sticking to the game plan. With Luvin at half back this week, he guided the forward pack around the pitch well and soon enough gaps started to open up and holes were created. Again the forward pack was lead around the pitch well by our big number 8 Timmy who bagged himself 5 tries, for those people who are interested in stats that now beats Dykse’s record of four tries in the 2004 grand final. Don’t worry big fella I have faith you will gain that title back !! It took only 6 minutes before the first try was posted and from that moment on JCU were not trouble too much. It was great to see our forwards running wide and retaining quick ball as this is something we have been talking about and trying to refine before we meet some of our tougher opponents in the near future.

As the game went on Atherton failed to trouble JCU too much, only crossing once late in the second half to post a full time score of 73 – 7. Once again thank you to those boys who strapped on the boots on Saturday, and also a big thanks to all the supporters who made the journey up the hill, I hope the reserve grade boys put on a good spectacle for you.

Well done boys still undefeated this season keep it up!
