JCU Women’s Debut

By April 1, 2011Match Report

Judging by the after match celebrations, you would be mistaken for thinking we had won!

A good effort by all team mates, the inaugural JCU Women’s game was always going to be an acid test. Starting with 11nearly all newbie players against a full 12 plus reserves almost all experienced, the girls put in a great effort and managed to have loads of fun with it.

Full points to Southside for their sportsmanship under the circumstances.

It was interesting to note that, with two injuries early in the first half, the team was down to 9, and the Crusaders’ points piled up. After half time, and a late appearance by Deeann Bailey, the team was at 12 – full strength, during which next 10 minutes, and before injury forced a valiant Taz McDonald off with a training injury, Southside didn’t score – and we did, with Sarrah Grillo going over for a try on the left flank.

The way I see it the only way is up, with a number of hills to climb.

Speaking of “hills”, I think I counted about 9 penalties given by Muddy against us …..

See you all on “Torture Tuesday”.
